Here’s a guide to the best ways to get to Playa Santa Teresa and Principe del Pacifico, Costa Rica, and how we can assist you along the way.

Domestic Flight from San Jose’ International airport (SJO) or from Liberia Airport (LIR)

This is definitely the quickest way to reach Playa Santa Teresa. Both Sansa airline and Green airline offer frequent flights which takes about 30minutes to get to the newest airport in Cobano.

Once you arrive in Cobano, we can arrange a taxi or shuttle for the 14 minutes drive to Principe del Pacifico

Shuttle Services

Share shuttle are a quite common option among travelers and there are many companies offering this service. Most of them have an airport pick up or hotel pick up and drop off. The route is the same: from San Jose to Puntarenas , Ferry boat to Paquera and then Playa Santa Teresa. But once in the ferry you have to pick up all your staff, languages bags etc… and get to the ferry alone, once in Paquera there will be another shuttle waiting for you. Price goes from 40$ to 50$ depending of the season.

Private Shuttles: Can be quite expensive but offering more comfort and flexibility.

Driving

Renting a car gives you total freedom and flexibility to explore at your own pace. From San José the drive takes about 5-6 hours, including a picturesque ferry crossing. From Liberia: A 4-5 hour drive without the need for a ferry.

We can recommend reliable car rental services and provide detailed driving directions.

Public Transportation

Direct Bus. This service is run by Transporte Cobano and from my opinion if you want to budget your journey this service is excellent. It cost about 15$ or 7520.00 Colones and it runs only once a day. The facebook page gives you all the updated information and you can book it directly from la terminal web site: https://www.laterminalcostarica.com.

There are two pick ups, the main one is in San Jose city terminal 7-10 or direct from the airport you can go to the parada autobús Puente Villa Bonita. The bus takes around 20/30 minute from the scheduled city center time to get here.

The price includes the cost of the ferry and you do not need to carry your luggage while on the ferry. Just make sure to keep the receipt to get on the bus again once you are in Paquera.

The Bus is then stopping in Cobano as its end of the journey, but another public bus is going to be there to take you to Santa Teresa. Price is around 2$.

There is a bus stop right in front of of Principe del Pacifico!!

 Boat Taxi from Jaco

During the dry season, a boat taxi from Jaco to Montezuma is a scenic option. Quick and picturesque, operating in good weather. From Montezuma, it’s a short taxi ride to Santa Teresa.

We can help coordinate boat taxi schedules and transfers.
